
ANDY HARKNESS
Art Director
Andy Harkness currently serves as art director on Sony Pictures Animation's upcoming original animated musical "Vivo," which features brand new songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creative force behind the Broadway smash "Hamilton," and is slated for theatrical release in June 2021. In 2004, Harkness served as art director for the studio's first-ever feature, "Open Season."
Prior to joining Sony Pictures Animation, Harkness worked as an art director at Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank. His credits include features "Moana" and "Wreck-It Ralph," shorts "Glago's Guest" and "The Ballad of Nessie," and the television show "Prep & Landing," in which he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual in Animation, as well as an Annie Award for Production Design in a Television Production. Harkness also served as a visual development artist at the studio for films such as "Bolt," "Tangled," "Big Hero 6," "Feast," and "Frozen."
Harkness began his career at Walt Disney Studios in Orlando, Florida, where he worked on animated classics such as "Pocahontas," "Mulan," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "Lilo and Stitch," and "Brother Bear."
Harkness majored in Illustration at Columbus College of Art and Design. He currently resides in Southern California with his wife Kelly, who works as director of IT at Sony Pictures Television, and their two sons.
